KonMari or ConMari?

Have we been conned into moving towards owning nothing?

Can minimalism be helpful? Absolutely. Is it necessary in every area of life? Absolutely not.

For the longest time I found myself struggling with us, wondering, how can I just pass along or toss things that I’ve spent years collecting, things that have a purpose or a future. Yes I understand the future doesn’t necessarily exist, but in our minds it does! Once someone who was much more a minimalist than myself exclaimed, “Well I must say Laur, any time I need something, I know you’ll have it!”

I was stuck in freeze for a while. So I didn’t make any moves, lol nothing drastic. I organized and tidied as I went, and somewhere along the lines of learning to live in the gray, I realized we don’t need to be a minimalist in every area.

There is nothing like needing or going to reach for something and it’s not there, or is empty! For this reason, over time I found myself getting into with some call “prepping.” But this is not done out of fear, or lack, it simply done out of convenience, or if there is a power outage, etc.

A “store” is a collection of things. “Storage.” In the past, we didn’t need to go to the store, or depend on the system for things we needed. And that’s what I aim for, independence from the system, as that creates one of our healthiest feelings & beliefs: we have what we need, we are always in abundance, we are always supported & cared for cosmically.
