Birth Support Companionship

Since the beginning of time, women have carried the wisdom of birth in their bones. Every birth is a threshold, a sacred crossing where intuition, love, and trust lead the way.

Guided by these ancestral ways, our Collective walks besides women and families with presence and care, offering tender support and timeless wisdom, while nurturing balance in body, heart and home.

Transforming birth transforms life itself. “To change the world, we must first change the way the babies are being born.” -Michel Odent

Frequently Asked Questions

A doula offers trained physical, emotional, and sometimes spiritual presence, with non-medical care, through life’s most profound passages, most commonly births and losses, and even the sacred threshold of death.

The key distinction between a Birth Keeper and a Doula lies in philosophy and scope. Doulas support medicalized births tended to by licensed practitioners & so must adhere to a certain defined scope, as they are bound & limited by certification organizations. Some Birth Keepers are former midwives who’ve voluntarily relinquished their licenses to step beyond the medical system to serve with greater freedom.

Birth keepers prioritize the reclamation of birth as the physiological, evidence-based, natural process it usually is, & generally serve women choosing paths such as home birth, wild pregnancy, or freebirth/unassisted birth, as Birth Keepers have no restrictions. A Birth Keeper tends the sacred space of birth for women to step fully into their power: to trust, connect, and listen deeply to their intuition and bodies. We do not give power, we help awaken the power within.

Birth Keepers accompany women and families who prefer to know their rights, to become educated, and to make choices that serve their families safely in autonomy with confidence and clarity. Birth Keepers are Doulas, but Doulas are not Birth Keepers. Birth Keepers walk in freedom, in traditional wisdom, ancestral knowing, and reverence for birth as it has always been. Birth Keepers may also support families in creating meaningful ceremonies, processing fears & help heal past traumas.

We believe in mothering the mother. We believe in your body’s wisdom. We believe that women carry the knowledge of birth and motherhood in their very bones, carried through generations. We believe birth is sacred. We believe in the wisdom of women. And above all, we believe in you.

Words are spells, which is why we “spell” them, and they influence us.

“Contraction: to make smaller or narrower by binding or squeezing; to squeeze or compress; to restrict the scope or freedom of; cramp,” which is the exact opposite of what we want to happen during birth.

“Labor: physical or mental exertion, especially when difficult or exhausting.”

Because of the power of the mind as well as the power of suggestion, we choose other terms to influence our desired outcomes.

“Doula” has roots in a derogatory context from Greek history, once used to describe female birth slaves, diminishing the value of both birth work and women.

“Doula” doesn’t capture how I serve. I choose not to use it for myself, except when clarifying my role with licensed professionals. I respect and honor Doulas, and acknowledge that the limitations of any label are self-created. Doula isn’t the term that reflects my approach and calling.

Every birth is sacred. I can help women navigate the system with confidence and care, while supporting them in giving birth safely and fully seen, whether at home, in a facility, or anywhere in between.

A Birth Keeper helps you step into birth with confidence and clarity. With devoted physical, emotional, and spiritual support. You learn about options, learn about which instances are actual emergencies or “high risk” scenarios, and how to tend to them, know your rights, and make decisions that honor your family’s values. Birth Keepers ease pressure on partners, invite you to be an active participant, and ensure you are cared for, not managed. Above all, they remind you that your body, your baby, and your birth are yours.

Families who choose Birth Keepers or Doulas experience higher satisfaction with their birth, better recovery, shorter labors, and a greater chance of a spontaneous birth happening. Research also shows less need for pain medication, fewer requests for epidurals, a significantly lower cesarean rate, and decreased episiotomies and injuries to both mother and children.

Use the “Contact” form to schedule your consultation & discuss in detail. Donation amounts are not outlined online as services & additionals are customized for each experience. “Doula” applies if a woman is working with a medical provider, and start at $1,200. Birth Keeper rates apply for unassisted, free births, and start at $3,000.
